Ever wished you looked like Audrey Hepburn or Snow White?
17-year-old Annelies van Overbeek shows us how it’s done.
The Belgian teen is making waves online by recreating vintage and iconic celebrity looks and sharing them to Instagram.
Annelies goes by the name “bewitchedquills” on the photo-sharing platform and describes herself as “just a girl with big dreams and a vivid imagination.”
Her account has gained over 19,000 followers by posting character-inspired looks online, ranging from Disney to 1920’s dancer.
Through wigs, makeup and costume, she transforms herself into a series of iconic characters including Belle from Beauty and The Beast, the Girl with A Pearl Earring and Keira Knightley in Pride & Prejudice.
In her latest photo she strikes an uncanny resemblance to Carey Mulligan in blockbuster The Great Gatsby.
From Puurs, Belgium, the teenager said she her fascination with iconic looks really took off when she cut her hair into a pixie style and people began comparing her to Audrey Hepburn.
Each photoshoot takes an hour or two to carry out, although the character she’s recreating must look somewhat similar to her to begin with, she says.
“It's really important that the character in question looks similar to me at least a little bit though, because although makeup, hair and the right outfit can do a lot, it's not going to work if you have a completely different face,” Annelies told ABC News.
Surprisingly, the most difficult part of channelling the much-loved icons isn’t finding an outfit, doing her makeup or styling her hair, but in fact shaping her eyebrows.
“They make such a difference to the look!” the natural beauty said.
“Luckily I have pretty good eyebrows, because they're very long so I can brush them into any shape I want. I have used face tape on one occasion though, for my Sherilyn Fenn look, because there was no way I could have achieved that arch otherwise!”
As for her next look, she said: “Many people have been telling me I should do Ava Gardner or Liz Taylor, though it will probably be Ava, because unfortunately I don’t have the striking blue eyes to pull off Liz!”
