Victoria Beckham dazzled in one of her own designs at the British fashion Awards, teaming minimal make-up with her signature messy up-do.

Victoria's pale skin and natural eye make-up proved to be the perfect canvas for a daring black gown from her spring collection teamed with Brian Atwood pumps.

She kept the base pale and accentuated her cheekbones with a little contouring. For the base, prep skin with an illuminating moisturiser like Dermalogica's Pure Light Lotion paying particular attention to the eyes, nose and cheeks. Once skin has been hydrated, foundation should be gently buffed on and imperfections hidden with a touch of concealer.

Despite all the changes over the years one area where Victoria has left no secret is in accentuating her bone structure. Cheeks are always contoured, cheekbones always accentuated, and the nose is always powder perfect. To steal this, contour with a dusting of pale pink blusher like Bobbi Brown Powder Blush in Pale Pink for the apples and a sweep of Dallas bronzer by Benefit's Dallas for just above the hollows.

Shading for eyes was kept to a minimum, with the focus on sleek liner and even sleeker lashes. This look doesn't flaunt too much and is measured in its approach. Even out skin tone with a wash of pale shadow like Mac's Naked Lunch before lining top and bottom lashes with a thin kohl pencil like Clinique's Quickliner in Really Black. For Victoria's new less defined finish, make sure to work the pencil into both the inner and outer corners and smudge lightly for a softer look. Two coats of L'Oreal's Lash Out Lengthening and Separating Mascara, top and bottom, will finish those lashes.

The pared back theme continued with that famous pout. As dry skin can build during the winter months prepping with a lip exfoliator before you start will help give a healthy sheen to nude lips. Keep things between the lines by lining with a nude pencil, and for a more even canvas try smudging the lip line toward the centre. For a final twist, give lips a touch more shading by applying a pale pink lipstick like Bobbi Browns Blush.

Having been seen in almost every style for every occasion, Victoria never seems to be out of the public eye for very long. Criticised for being too perfect, too groomed and too pronounced, the look has been softened lately. The messy eyes and scrunched low bun come complete with fly away strands and, though we suspect she'd never admit it, a lesson learned. We love this look.
