Teaming a floor-length Dolce and Gabana gown with a classic Hollywood up-do and blood red lips, 19-year-old Selena Gomez looked every inch the starlet in waiting at this year's Vanity Fair Oscars Party.

The American actress is the girl every 15-year-old dreams of being, but loves to hate - Justin Bieber's flame certainly seems to have it all.

If you are 15 years old you can probably skip the next bit but those of us not blessed with Ms Gomez's youth will certainly need to give Mother Nature a helping hand with some primer. Face Primer Plus by Estee Lauder will do well here and it works a treat at filling in fine lines as well as balancing skin tone.

Once skin has been primed, lightening the base with an illuminating foundation will help keep things fresh. Try applying NARS Sheer Glow with a foundation brush to get Selena's red carpet glow and add a light swirl of bronzer like L'ancome's Tropiques Minerale along the cheekbones and hairline which will help mimic that sun-kissed look. To blur the lines and soften the finish, use a loose powder like Make-Up Forevers Microfinish Powder.

Selena's make-up look uses the lips as the centre stage and the Disney star balances this with natural eye make-up. Begin with eyelid primer before gently washing a neutral brown or cream over the lids for some slight definition. As soft as her eyes are, they still go pop and for this Rimmel's Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner is worth a mention. Line the upper and lower lids and add a volumising mascara to the upper and lower lashes.

Matching the lips and the dress can often be a disaster rather than a triumph although nobody seems to know why! On Selena it works perfectly and liner is the key here as it will lock colour in place and give lips a sound base.

Brush apply Mac's Prep + Prime before gently lining lips with a lip pencil like Bobbi Browns Lip Pencil in Apricot. If you are going to work this look, stay brave and finish lips with a full-on red like Chanel's Hydrabase Creme Lipstick in Barcelona Red. With every girl in town waiting for the day she and the Bieber are no more, we love the fact she's become the scarlet woman!
