Actress Katie Holmes knows a thing or two about understated glamour. Despite a hectic schedule, the 32-year-old always keeps her look current favouring laid back styling and natural make-up.

Recently spotted looking chic at the Beauty Culture Exhibition, she teamed a beautiful cream blazer with a tailored green dress and wore the look perfectly with understated make-up.

Blessed with beautiful skin, Katie makes the most of her complexion with light foundations and subtle bronzing. If you are stealing her look, begin by hydrating skin with moisturising lotion before applying a light foundation like Mac's Face and Body.

Conceal under-eye bags with YSL's Touch Eclat highlighter pen and dab over blemishes with concealer. With the base in place, a sweep of Benefits Moonbeam highlighter will add shimmer to cheekbones and a gentle bronze like Solar Powder by Soap and Glory will finish the shading.

Katie keeps her eye palette soft and neutral and balances the laid back look with plenty of liner and mascara. For a similar natural finish, wash a light pink or cream shadow from lid to brow and add some definition by working a light brown shadow across the lid and blending into the crease. Get definition for upper and lower lids with a soft black kohl and to take the look down a notch, smudge gently with finger tips. Even if you're not blessed with Katie's lustrous lashes, two coats of a volumising mascara like Maybeline's The Falsies will give the desired effect.

Katie's lips are almost always made up of a natural palette of light pinks and nudes. Line lips with a neutral liner like Spice by MAC before applying a light pink gloss like Lancome's Juicy Tubes in Simmer. If you find this too light and crave a deeper dash of colour, Mac's Craving could also be applied with a brush.

The groomed look is always topped with those trademark shining tresses. For your own added shine, wrap large sections of hair around a barrel iron and brush through into loose, textured waves. Extra shine can then be added with a natural conditioning spray like Moroccanoil's Glimmer Shine Spray.

Katie's look might not hit the headlines too often, but we're pushed to find an occasion when she hasn't been perfectly on-trend .... we love her look!
