Party season is well and truly upon us. When your office Christmas party rolls around for another year, there's always the urge to transform yourself from your usual, minimal-effort daily worker into a maximum-effort, maximum-impact glamazon in order to wow your colleagues.

Party season is well and truly upon us. When your office Christmas party rolls around for another year, there's always the urge to transform yourself from your usual, minimal-effort daily worker into a maximum-effort, maximum-impact glamazon in order to wow your colleagues.

Treat yourself to a special pre-Christmas make-up treat and make the most of all those hours you spend getting ready.

Those parties won't know what hit them!

Bobbi Brown's gorgeous Ultimate Party Palette, €65, is the new must-have for palette fiends.

It has eight great party shades of eyeshadow (with no dud shades) and four glossy lip colours all with a hint of glitter, making them ideal for partying.

'Plum Steel' is the nicest shadow and 'Soiree Pink' is the best of the lip glosses.

Hard to fault a palette like this. Although if you're looking for a bargain, go to another counter.

Great lips are an essential for any Christmas night out. Nothing says festive like a red lip loitering under the mistletoe!

But those long party nights will have your lipstick worn off very fast without some help.

Lip stains are the way forward when it comes to long lasting colour. Maybelline's Colour Sensational lip stains are great and at ¤8.99, they won't add too much to the cost of your lipstick.

It could do with a balm at the other end because it can be drying, but under lipstick is generally fine.

Top up your lip stain with a fabulous red lipstick with great pigment. Lancome's L'Absolu Rouge in 132 is such a gorgeous red colour and is part of Lancome's Christmas collection. It's pricey at €25, but it lasts and makes your lips pop.

Holiday collections are fab because they're made with party season in mind. Avon's Sequins and Shine collection has party and festivity written all over it. The best bit of the collection is the eyeshadow quad, and the eyeliner is the most long lasting I've tried in ages. Avon knows how to do a great liner!

I wouldn't be a fan of the lipgloss really -- too sticky for my liking -- but with the collection starting at just €8, the price is hard to beat.

If you really want to take the glamour up a level, there's nothing like a pair of false lashes. They open up your eyes and put you on par with the red-carpet A-listers.

Ja'Maal Buster's range of lashes (apparently he lashes the big stars), €6.95, are really easy to apply and look natural, no matter how long they are in the packet.

I love the 'Sold Out Show' ones -- they give a healthy amount of volume and length without being over the top.

Another item for your Christmas list (it's not make-up, technically, but it's a serious beauty treat) is the Bobbi Brown Travel Kit make-up case.

At €100, it's most definitely a special purchase, and a luxury one at that, but make-up obsessives will see it and fall in love in an instant. I did!

Circle the picture of it on this page in red pen and leave it where your significant other can see. They need the hints!
