MAC makeup artists on how they created our favourite looks from the night.

Experts from the MAC Pro Team, headed up by Senior Artist Lesley Keane, were on hand in the MAC Beauty Suite at the Gibson Hotel to provide makeup services and private appointments to VIPs for the Awards.

“It is always an honour to be working backstage at the Irish Film and Television Awards,” Lesley told us. “As a MAC Senior Artist, it is an amazing experience to work with the elite in both Irish and Global TV and media. As always, the Irish ladies did not disappoint on this milestone evening, opting for gorgeous floor length gowns. The makeup was kept beautifully feminine with the classic red lip taking a vintage turn. The popular shade of the night was MAC Lip Pencil in Nightmoth".

For Saoirse Ronan, Lesley used the Mineralise Fluid Foundation as a base. To accentuate the eyes, she blended Carbon Eyeshadow out over the lid and a smoulder liner was used  on the upper and lower lash line. She finished off using a lick of In Dimension Extreme Mascara. Her eyebrows were defined using a brow pencil in Fling and her nude lip was achieved with a lipstick in Creme de Nude.

Shameless actress Anne Marie Duff relied on a natural look for her red carpet appearance. She opted for BB Cream and Pro Longwear Concealer rather than a heavy foundation, and Strada blush was used to contour the cheeks. For a natural brown eye, Coffee eye pencil was blended all over the eyes, following by Kid eyeshadow applied in the socket line to contour. As for the lips, Spice lip pencil was blended over the lips, with lip conditioner added on top for a gloss finish.

One of our favourite broadcasters, the ever hilarious Dawn Porter went for a rather dramatic makeup look. Lesley applied Strobe Cream as a base followed by an application of Mineralize Moisture foundation and Moisturecover Concealer. Springsheen Sheertone Shimmer blush was applied along the cheekbone and Hush Creme Color Base was then used to contour. For her smokey eye, Blacktrack fluidline was applied across the base of the eyelid, Carbon Eyeshadow was blended with Copperplate Eyeshadow, followed by a flick of the feline powerkohl pencil, and a dash of Opulash mascara. The lips? Dawn relied on lip conditioner, Whirl Lip Pencil and Pure Zen Cremesheen Lipstick.

Newly single Sinead Desmond looked better than ever at the IFTAs on Saturday night. The TV3 star used Pro Longwear Foundation, Creme Blush in Something Special for some colour on her cheeks and a cream colour base in Luna was applied along the cheekbones as a highlighter. For a light smokey eye, Fluidline in Blacktrack was applied using an angular eye brush and Smoulder Eye Kohl was smudged across the lids. Her lipstick is Shy Girl.

Caroline Morahan, who is famed for going makeup-less in her downtime, opted for a very dramatic look, in particular her statement, deep plum lip. Lesley applied MAC's cult product Face and Body Foundation and went for a natural eye with slight definition using

Sketch Eyeshadow, Fluidline in blacktrack and False Lash Mascara. Now, how did she get that incredible lip look? Nightmoth Lip Pencil and Rebel Lipstick. It's as easy as 1-2-3.
