Inside man: Slick styling for the modern man in summer
Make-up artist Aidan Corcoran gives us his INSIDER expert knowledge on looking good this Summer. His top tips will keep everything in check throughout festival season.
Don't wear your life on your face – keeping up with work and nights out takes a toll on your skin, especially around the eyes.
My favourite tool to combat this is L'Oreal Men Expert Vita Lift 5 Complete Anti-Ageing Eye Roll-On, €16.49. It's designed for men and comes in a handy roll-on for easy use, a quick swipe in the morning and you're done. Targets dark circles, baggy eyes and lines around your eyes – all of the tell tale signs of a busy life.
Concealing for men has taken a leap forward, brands have kept up with modern society and produced concealers specifically designed just for men. Tom Ford Concealer For Men may be pricey at €40, but worth it. It's sleek, masculine packaging that will disappear into any man's bag and it comes in a trio of shades expertly blended to suit most skin tones. My top tip is to apply a tiny amount with your finger and let it melt into the skin. Use concealer to cover up dark circles, blemishes or razor nicks!
Don't lose your cool during festival season this summer by using discreet blotting sheets to mattify shiny skin. Boots Skin Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets soak up any excess shine off the face and will keep you looking natural and oil-free. Cheap and cheerful at €5.39, just press them onto your skin and throw away afterwards!Maintain the beard and control your brows by using a clear brow gel. Brush it through your facial hair with the handy comb applicator to keep unruly hairs in place. My fave? MAC Clear Brow Set, €16.50
"Modern men are under more pressure than ever to look their best, so much like the caveman needed fire, the modern man needs grooming! Prevention is better than the cure, so skin care is key."
Lab Series is specifically targeted for men and their products do exactly what they say on the tin. The Invigorating Face Scrub (€28) is a must have. Use in small circular motions on damp skin to slough off dead skin cells.
For a cheaper alternative use your matte texture hair gel with a small comb to do the same job.
