I'm In my prime. . .
This week, I'm feeling toned and luminous, and you wouldn't believe just how easy it was to achieve. I'll let you into my secret.
It's all thanks to a few drops of MAC's Prep + Prime Skin Brightening Serum (€39).
Even the packaging of this wonder product is sleek and chic. But, much more importantly, what's inside certainly doesn't disappoint.
It's formulated to gradually and visibly reduce the appearance of dark spots, but this serum, which glides on very easily, also double-jobs by hydrating and helping to provide a more evenly toned complexion.
I think it's particularly useful if you prefer to wear tinted moisturiser rather than foundation at this time of the year, but worry that light tints don't give enough coverage.
I've also been trying to get out of my colour rut. If I'm wearing brown or green eyeshadow, then it must be daytime, while you just know I'm going out if I've applied some grey eyeliner. Yawn. I'm even managing to bore myself. It's really time for a change.
I've psyched myself up and started to experiment with colour. Real colour, that is, and not just varying shades of taupe.
So I checked out Clinique's new limited edition Colour Surge Eye Shadow Palette in Brandied Bronze (€31, below).
Small, but neatly formed, it's a set of six complementary shades that can be mixed and matched or worn alone. Thankfully they're all from the warm spectrum so even a colour rookie won't be intimidated. In fact, the colours are possibly a little too sheer (not a complaint I thought I'd ever have) so I'd recommend using a creamy shadow underneath as a base.
The turquoise one is particularly gorgeous though.
Use with two coats of La Roche-Posay's Respectissime Densifying Mascara (€17). This volumising mascara is paraben and fragrance-free, and is packed with vitamin B5 which strengthens eyelashes for maximum growth.
