Down-to-earth Saoirse Ronan used an €8 hair product to get Oscars ready

Saoirse Ronan might be a two-time Oscar nominee with countless accolades and a place on the top of every best dressed list, but she's still down-to-earth as ever.

The 21-year-old actress, who lost to Brie Larson in the Best Actress category at Sunday night's ceremony, has been consistently hailed as one of the best dressed stars of the night in a custom-made sequin Calvin Klein gown.

When your dress is one of the most talked about looks at the biggest red carpet of the year, you need a killer hair and makeup team to ensure picture perfection.

Yet more evidence that Saoirse is defying the diva attitude synonymous with a Hollywood ingenue such as herself, her hair stylist Adir Abergel revealed he used products from the John Frieda range to get her look.

"I fell in love with the construction and details of the Calvin Klein dress," he told the Hollywood Reporter. He said she "represents a modern icon — confident, sultry and with a fresh youthfulness."

For her relaxed hair, he gave a textured blowout with waves, using John Frieda Luxurious Volume Perfectly Full Mousse, which retails for €7.99 at Boots. As for her makeup look, her longtime arts Mai Quynh used new season colours from Chanel.

"She’s definitely more open and she trusts me and is open to trying new colors and techniques," she added.

"I started with Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Mysterio from lash line to crease. Then, I layered with CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Tissé Smoky. I smudged grey shadow along the lower lash line and rimmed the eyes with Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Feuilles. I finished with two coats of Chanel Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir."
