4 festival hairstyles you'll want to try this summer (and how to do them at home)
The arrival of Forbidden Fruit this weekend officially kicks off festival season.
Ahead, we've got Body & Soul, Longitude, Sea Sessions and Electric Picnic. Get festival ready without a flower crown or floppy hat in sight.
1. The modern Princess Leia
Rival Kendall Jenner with this updated take on a classic look. We asked Daniel Lynes, Lead Stylist for TONI&GUY Products UK how to get the look at home.
"Spray volumiser (TONI&GUY Glamour 3D Volumiser) throughout dry or damp hair, blow-drying with a paddle brush to give some volume and hold. Next, divide the hair in a centre parting and gather in two high ponytails before twisting the tail and wrapping around the base to create a twisted top knot. It is very on trend to leave a little fly away!
If you want to stand out from the crowd, sprinkle some glitter in your hairline and Victoria's Secret are sure to be knocking on your door any day.
2. The pom pom girl
Festival staple Millie Mackintosh rocked this look at the first weekend of Coachella, thanks to stylist to the stars Zoe Irwin.
How do I get it? Blowdry with a round bristle brush and use root lip spray (ghd root lift spray) and curl hold spray for texture. Backcomb all over (volume is key).
Part your hair in the centre and smooth the ends. "Pin and secure two different coloured pom-pom trims into the hair by cross crossing two kirby grips over each other just behind the ear," Zoe says.
"Braid into the hair and apply a clear band at the ends to hold the plaits. Gently pull the pom-poms out of the braids so that they’re more visible and pull the braid apart to make it wider." All products used are ghd.
3. The boxer braids
'Boxer braids' as they've been dubbed might still be semi-controversial, but thanks to the Kardashian endorsement, they're everywhere. Keep your hair in place all day (or weekend depending on the camping situation). If you're feeling adventurous, go colourful like Kylie Jenner (above), but for the rest of us - Great Lengths Hair Extensions have shared this handy tutorial.
4. The boho babe
"To prep hair, wash then apply shape cream to damp hair which creates gorgeous waves which will stay in place all day. Plait the damp hair into sections all over the head and blast with a hair dryer. Once dry, un-plait hair and run through with fingers.
"To finish the look and keep in place, spray (TRESemme Make Waves Creation Hairspray)." Laura Whitmore, eat your heart out.
