Four of the Best: Nourishing lip balms
Published 19/01/2011 | 12:26
It's no wonder our lips tend to feel the pinch at this time of year, with the weather dishing out everything it can. In view of our need for some serious repairs and the fact that lip balms taste so much better than our diet, we at Independent Woman have puckered up to bring you four of our favourites.
The Lip Balm by Creme De La Mer
Ladies looking to improve on a pout that's less than perfectly pert will find nothing short of luxury in The Lip Balm by Creme De La Mer.
Worn overnight for skin renewal and topped up by day as a conditioning treatment, Creme De La Mer's moisture retaining balm softens lips naturally and relieves dryness.
Available from Creme De La Mer Counters, priced at €58
Honey and Beeswax Organic Lip Balm from the Burren Perfumery
Thirsty lips in need of some natural hydration should look for a smooch with the Honey and Beeswax Balm by the Burren Perfumery. Loaded with natural, organic goodies that nourish and soften, we've been whiling away the hours treating ourselves to the taste of sunflower seed oil, sweet orange and calendula flower extract. On taste alone we were most impressed, but when we added the speed at which this melts away the dry bits we found ourselves doubly delirious with the results.
Available from The Burren Perfumery, priced at €8.50
Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil
Ladies with lips a little less than lustrous will simply love this brilliant balm by Burt's Bees. The Replenishing Lip Balm uses pomegranate oil, coconut and beeswax by way of nourishment and, to even out the colour of lips in a dire state of disrepair, the formula comes complete with a flush of rouge by way of camouflage.
Available from selected pharmacies, priced at €3.95.
Ultra Balm by Lush
Loaded with super softening ingredients like rose wax, candelilla wax and jojoba oil, Lush's Ultrabalm certainly doesn't disappoint when it comes to conditioning those kissers. Recently launched with a formula that glides on easily and rehydrates lips, ultra balm is also a gem for sloughing away that less than attractive dry skin. In case you needed any more persuasion, the handbag friendly tin makes topping up on the go something of a breeze.
Available from Lush, priced at €10.95
