Four of the Best: Moisturisers for winter
Published 01/11/2010 | 11:29
Dry or oily, super sensitive or as tough as old boots there is really no such thing as typical skin. So, why do all winter moisturisers seem to be the same. With a chilly spell upon us we at Independent Woman have been buying creams, pots, potions and lotions in a bid to find our best moisturisers for winter skin. Here are our four favourites.
Bliss Triple Oxygen+C Cream
Sensitive skin can breathe a sigh of relief with the Triple Oxygen+C Cream by Bliss. Designed to hydrate and brighten, the lightweight cream contains an unusual mixture of oxygenated ingredients and lipid-soluble vitamin C. The price tag may be a bit on the heavy side but as it absorbs easily and is perfect for reviving fatigued skin we think it might be worth a hint or two here or there.
Available from Brown Thomas, priced at €55.
Cowshed's Neroli Nourishing Daily moisturiser
Bursting with enriching olibanum, jojoba and peach kernel oils Cowshed's Neroli Nourishing Daily moisturiser is great for keeping the dry flaky bits at bay. Perfect for plumping even the most parched of skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines if that weren't enough the added aroma of neroli, rose and jasmine makes facing the harsh winter weather a little easier to bare.
Available from cowshedonline.com, priced at £30.
If what's required is something altogether lighter Steam Cream might just fit the bill. Created in Japan by combining natural ingredients filtered through a purifying steam the moisturiser is feather light and quite frankly full of fun. Oatmeal to soothe, orange flower to improve elasticity and almond oil to soften there's also the bonus of a rather sleek aluminium case - a perfect companion for cold winter days.
Available from asos.com , priced at €11.28.
Keraskins Aqua Lipidium
Rubbishing the myth that oily skin never gets dry Keraskins Aqua Lipidium is the perfect pick-me-up for skin that has it's up and downs. Add algae extract for excess sebum, phlorgine to help soothe the symptoms of oily skin and what you're left with is a moisturiser that keeps those awkward breakouts to a minimum - genius we say.
Available from Therapie, Molesworth Street Dublin, priced at €50
