First Lady of China pulls Angelina Jolie face powder faux pas

It happens to the best of us, although usually photos of our make-up mishaps are not broadcast around the world!

This week Madame Peng Liyuan, the first lady of China, has accompanied her husband, Chinese President Xi Jinping, on a state visit to Britain.

Although she has been beautifully turned out throughout the visit, Madame PengLiyuan appeared to have overdone the face powder when she attended a banquet at the Guildhall in London yesterday.

She had patches of white powder across her entire face but it was particularly prominent on her forehead and bridge of her nose.

Of course powder is necessary to avoid looking greasy faced in photos, but perhaps not quite this much!

She’s not the first lady in the public eye to fall foul of over-enthusiastic powdering, however.

Drew Barrymore, Kate Winslet, and Angelina Jolie have all made the make-up mistake on occasion.

Jolie appeared on the red carpet in April last year with similar white powder all over her face.  She still managed to look sensational in a black satin dress.

Madame Peng Liyuan has spent most of her time in the company of the Duchess of Cambridge.

On Wednesday Kate wore an aubergine lace knee-length dress with a high neck and the previous evening she wore a scarlet gown by Jenny Packham to her inaugural Buckingham Palace state banquet.
