As a rule of thumb, festivals are a great time to ditch your usual beauty and fashion looks for the weekend and experiment.

Leave your makeup trunk at home and pack the bare essentials; foundation or tinted moisturiser (if you can’t live without); powder; bronzer; mascara and lip balm/gloss.

For those feeling a little braver, now is the time to embrace those glitter eyeliners/stick on transfers/whacky lip colours you once bought on a whim and have shunned ever since.

Brows

Groomed eyebrows really do frame the face. To keep your eyebrows tame and neat, pack an eyebrow brush/old toothbrush and some brow gel or clear mascara.

Mirror Mirror

This one goes without saying. Your vision post 10-hour drinking session is questionable at the best of times, so anything that aids in an easier makeup application is ideal.

Don't forget your foundation and powder brushes either as who knows how clean your hands will be.

Disguise

Your saving grace will be anything that hides a multitude of sins- your survival pack should be comprised of sunglasses, cool hats and head scarves.

Sunscreen

I can practically hear people scoffing having read this….but red and sore skin is not a good look at any time, and in our temperamental climate you can never be too safe. Ditto for lip balm with SPF to avoid a chapped and irritated pout.

Primer

The holy grail of your weekend makeup bag. Apply a mattefying primer first thing and you won't have to worry about your makeup sliding south.

Cleansing

Baby wipes are the first word when it comes to festival grooming. However, if you have temperamental or blemish prone skin, these alone won’t cut the mustard.

Pack a small bottle of cleansing water (I advocate Garnier’s Micellar water) and some cotton wool pads to hydrate and soothe skin after a long night of partying.

Spot Work

As previously mentioned, late nights and clogged skin can quickly lead to pimples which are not ideal when you want to look like a carefree boho babe.

If your skin breaks out easily, pack a spot target gel or treatment- the Body Shop has several effective ones and Boots’ Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Spot Want is magic.

Minty Fresh

Do yourself a favour and arm yourself with a toothbrush and mini toothpaste for the morning, and keep chewing gums, mints or a fresh breath spray in your handbag.
