The model stunned when she showed off her new look recently, having coloured her usually dark brunette locks pale blonde. She has now discussed why she made the bold move, explaining she loves her new look and plans to keep it up.

“It’s so interesting because I think it’s the last thing people would expect me to do - which is exactly why I did it. Besides, I was having a Gemini moment,” she laughed.

“It means that you can get bored and you want a bit of a change. So I would say besides having projects in the works, that I wanted something new myself so I decided to keep it.”

Crystal was speaking at the New Yorkers for Children dinner dance earlier this week. The event also featured a fashion show with some of the biggest names in the industry in attendance, among them Doutzen Kroes, Coco Rocha and Erin Heatherton.

Crystal opted for a moss green Zac Posen gown, which showed off her new slim frame. The model used to be plus size but has shed weight of late.

The 25-year-old has been astounded by the attention her new hair has attracted – not all of it positive. She doesn’t listen to her detractors though and is proud she went all out by bleaching her brows too.

“I’m in a place where I want to play with my look and because my eyebrows are such a prominent feature I thought it would be interesting to mix it with the white in my hair,” she told Fashionista.com. “I have very thick brows and to have thick white brows, it was very appealing to me. I wanted to do blonde in a different way. I technically have white in my hair.”

Crystal also hinted a change of career could be on the cards. The model might make the move into acting, although it doesn’t mean she would totally leave the fashion industry.

“I’m always considering new projects. But it’s not something that I have pursued because my modelling career is so busy and if I were to pursue acting I’d want to take it very seriously and study. If the right part came along, yes, most certainly, I would do it. I’m becoming more and more open to that every day. Modelling feels like acting. Did you see those Interview shots of me playing a mental patient? I was in character all day,” she laughed.

“Some people got really huffy about it, like should we mix the two? And I think what’s most important is that you want to believe the story - you do it for movies so why wouldn’t you do it for fashion?”
