Women around the world have been rejecting beach body shame in the most epic fashion.
The #Fatkini movement on Instagram and Tumblr allows 'fat activists' to show off their figures with pride, without fear of ridicule.
It's believed to have started in 2012, but has been steadily gaining momentum in recent weeks as more and more women come forward to share their personal experience with personal body shaming.
Blogger Gabi Fresh is believed to have kickstarted the movement two years ago, when she wrote a blog post encouraging women of all shapes and sizes to leave their bodies.
“I truly encourage you guys to get to the beach (or a pool) this summer – don't let body shame keep you from having a good time,” she wrote in the original 2012 post.
“I don't expect everyone to feel comfortable in a two-piece, but hopefully I can inspire some of you to take the plunge," she said. "I can't tell you how freeing it is to just have fun without worrying about what other people think.
