The Modern Family star has been subjected to online bullying since she rose to fame as Alex on the hit comedy show, but Winter says she doesn’t let the comments bring her down.

In a powerful Instagram post, the 18-year-old urged her followers to “stop the hate” and accept themselves for who they are.

“Every time someone bullies me online, it gives me a chance to re-emphasize to my fans, and even to myself, how important self acceptance is,” she wrote.

“To who say such harsh things on my Instagram, thank you for this opportunity – but the question I ask myself each time I read the mean comments is if this is how you talk to a stranger online, I can only imagine how cruelly you speak to yourself. Stop the hate.”

“Accept all that you are and know your flaws are what make you the perfect you. I love my fans and I love my bullies for what they truly need is love.”

“Take the high road, there is less traffic,” she finished.

The actress underwent breast reduction surgery at age 17 which reduced her breasts from a 35 F to a 34 C.

Nothing but love

Following the surgery, she penned an essay explaining how her decision to undergo the surgery was her own personal choice to relieve the physical pain that she experienced from her large chest.

“It wasn’t because I didn’t like how I looked. Having so much weight on my frame was affecting me psychologically. I was uncomfortable and unhappy. I chose surgery because of how I felt, not because of what anyone else thought.”

Winter also wrote about how much happier she was after having the surgery.

“I automatically felt so much happier and just better physically. My back and shoulders didn’t hurt anymore! The first thing I wanted to do was go clothing shopping because I was so excited to be able to find things that fit properly instead of hiding in a baggy sweater. That meant the world to me.”
