Roz Purcell: 'I don't want to sound excessive, but I work out 10-11 times a week'
Roz Purcell has revealed the secret to her model figure and it requires a hell of a lot of time at the gym.
The former Miss Universe Ireland (26), who has transitioned into a successful career as a food personality with a best-selling cookbook, said she works out 10-11 times per week in order to stay at her peak both physically and mentally.
"I'm always training. For me, it's what I enjoy doing. I don't want to sound excessive, but I would train 10 or 11 times a week - a mixture of boxing, yoga, legs, arms and different classes. I'd take a rest day once a fortnight, but if I wake up sore, I'll take another one," she told the March issue of VIP Magazine.
"[Mental health] it's one of the biggest reasons I train. For me, it has such huge benefits. It sounds a bit weird but I just have so much energy and always feel raring to go. Sometimes if I do miss training, I feel a bit antsy, but I have become a lot better with taking my rest days. I've found a good balance for me."
Purcell, who is behind food brand Natural Born Feeder, said she rarely drinks alcohol but isn't afraid to have a cheat meal during social occasions.
"I'm not afraid of comfort food at all. I train so much that I don't feel guilty if I eat something gluttonous. I don't drink a lot, maybe six times a year, but if I'm with other people and we're all hanging and they're all ordering pizza, I'll have some," she added.
"If people are over, I like to make things like lentil curry bake or a one-pot wonder and if it's just me and Rachel, something like healthy burrito bowls. I like to mix it up. I'm very 80:20 with my food. I don't always eat clean as I don't like to deprive myself. I bake four times a week so I'm always eating cake and buns."
The Tipperary native has been dating MCD music promoter Zach Desmond for nearly a year and said she's "really happy" with her life with her new beau and living with her sister Rachel.
"I'm just really happy in where I am at the moment. I love my job and what I'm doing. I'm living with my best friend. I'm in a new relationship and I'm very happy with Zach. Overall, I'm feeling good. I'm enjoying where I'm at."
