If you're fair or of freckled face then you're already nailing summer's latest beauty trend.

But if you're not, let Topshop help you because for now, carefully placed freckles face are on trend, and they're available in a pen.

Yes that's right, in a pen, making the Freckle Pencil from Topshop one of the most anti-ageing products available right now.

Add a few dots, take off a few years, as demonstrated by Hannay Murray, Topshop's beauty consultant and the brains behind the pencil itself

Topshop's version was created following on from Murray's backstage spring/summer 2014 look for the high street retailer's fashion show earlier this year.

To create the most natural looking pigment (after all a freckle is of course a cluster of natural skin melanin) Murray was blending two different shades of 'melanin'-like liner, so as not to give a flat, fake finish.

So thought Topshop, why not create a unique freckle pen with two pigments shot through the nib in marbled for a real-freckle effect? And here it is, in its easy-to-use and age-defying form.

As simple at the two-in-one pigment pencil may be to use ("tap marks quickly and randomly onto the skin starting on the bridge of the nose moving down onto the cheeks and outwards," says Murray, "whilst avoiding use over heavy base."), there are however some basic rules to follow, says Murray, and it's all about face shape.

If you have a round-shaped face: "Scatter freckles across the higher planes of the face where you would naturally catch the sun. Begin at the bridge of the nose, keeping the freckles dense and sweep down the sides of the nose and onto the cheeks. Place a few freckles around the lower lip and across the forehead."

If you have a heart-shaped face: "With a feather light touch sparsely place freckles on the top of the nose for a natural finish and delicately across the checks for a fresh-faced look."

If you have an oval-shaped face: "For a classic oval shape wear dense freckles across the bridge of the nose and directly under the eyes, with sparser freckles across the cheekbone, to give a youthful finish."

And, if you have a square-shaped face: "Concentrate freckles around the bridge of the nose and scatter across cheeks keeping them slightly spaced out as you extend the freckles towards the hairline and along the forehead."
