Doutzen Kroes feels 'connected to her body' during pregnancy
Doutzen Kroes says pregnancy makes her feel "connected" to her body.
The 29-year-old Dutch model and her husband Sunnery James already have three-year-old son Phyllon and are currently expecting a little baby girl.
Victoria's Secret Angel Doutzen enjoys being an expectant mom and the changes she's experienced.
"I love being pregnant. As a woman to know that you have the ability to grow another human being is really such a unique and special feeling," she marvelled to Modelinia.
"I feel completely connected to my body and want to treat it as best I can so I know I am giving my daughter the healthiest possible environment to grow."
Doutzen has teamed up with fellow model Liya Kebede, who started The Liya Kebede Foundation, to launch a virtual baby shower that will benefit mothers all over the world. Doutzen's online followers will be offered the chance to make a donation to the cause, which supports maternal and newborn health care services in Ethiopia.
"I’ve always been really intrigued by the work Liya does and inspired by her efforts in Ethiopia, so when we saw each other recently the idea for this project came about pretty organically," she explained.
"I know how lucky I am to have all the resources I do, so asking for gifts at a baby shower seemed selfish to me. I hope that people will spread the word about Liya’s foundation and be inspired to do their own virtual baby showers."
Doutzen's approach is extremely selfless and will hopefully raise a lot of money for the charity. However, the star also shared some ideas for anyone looking for a baby shower gift.
"I love the idea of something monogrammed for a baby (even if you don’t know the full name yet). A blanket or accessory with the baby’s last name or initial is always a nice option," she recommended.
