Mayo woman Sarah Heffernan (26), a marketer and fitness enthusiast, was inspired to create the IrishFitPros group to encourage positive interaction among those working, or hoping to work, in the fitness industry.

The aim of IrishFitPros and it’s events is primarily to educate, support the development of essential skills needed for becoming your own boss and to ultimately provide support and an opportunity to network with peers.

“The intention is for the group to become membership based with regular events to promote learning and networking,” Sarah says of her new venture “Unfortunately, a lot of really great personal trainers fail to see the value of marketing and sales. They're losing business as a result and the entire industry is suffering. The hope is that a movement such as this will counteract all of that.”

To get the ball rolling, Sarah is organising the inaugural meetup event in the offices of Wayra on Sir John Rogersons Quay, Dublin, on Thursday April 30th at 7pm.

The ‘Get Off Your Ass’ event will bring together two industry professionals for an informative presentation and Q&A session.

Sarah Doyle, a life coach and motivational speaker, will deliver a talk on ‘Failing Your Way To Success’, tackling issues such as mindfulness, making the most of opportunities and how to remain positive while managing your own business.

James Hanley, a no-nonsense talking strength training coach who runs Revolution Fitness, will offer tips on ‘How To Sell With No Questions Asked’, how to build a loyal following and how to utilise your online presence.

Tickets for the event are currently priced at €25, with all proceeds going towards the Irish Kidney Association. You can book online here.
