She may be a top TV presenter with a figure to die for, but Amanda Byram (42) has revealed she wasn't always so body confident.

"I wasted so many years thinking I was fat or at least not as thin or perfect as I wanted to be. I remember thinking, 'If only I could be skinny, life would be perfect'.

"All those years I looked perfectly normal, but I was scared of letting go, scared of what would happen. I really lament those lost years. I wasted so much precious time worrying about my weight."

The former Swan star, said that now she's in her 40s, she's far more interested in being strong and healthy.

"We need to be more educated about health, rather than obsessing with weight and our image," she said.

She told Kaizen Living how preparation was key to eating healthily. "I always travel with food. No matter where or how long the flight, I was always travel with five or six Tupperware boxes of homemade salads or quinoa or fish."

"The crew laughed at first, but after the third week of them eating burgers and chips every day, they were banging down my door for a fix of healthy eating," she added.

The London-based presenter will be coming home to spend Christmas with her family in Castleknock while also enjoying some down-time with boyfriend Julian Okines.
