Beauty squad - tricks straight from the couture catwalks
How many women are guilty of concentrating on their make-up from the neck up and on their clothes from the neck down? Our fashion editor set about marrying the two with beauty tricks straight from the couture catwalks and the award season's red carpet

The flawless, covetable beauty looks have almost rivalled the frocks on the red carpet during the awards season to date. Take Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, for example. Her pared back, polished nude skin with just a hint of colour was one of the memorable moments at the SAGS, but how do you achieve that nude on nude look without looking unwell? And how do you do it wearing nude tones too?
The answer, ladies, is here for your perusal. We have a beauty-meets-fashion masterclass with Warren Dowdall and Aidan Corcoran, two of the three-strong 'Beauty Style Team' at Brown Thomas in Grafton Street. For our shoot, the boys explored everything from creating that very '70s, Cindy Crawford 'golden goddess' iconic look, to the very on-trend, earthy tones face favoured by lots of the fash pack, and show us how to achieve that toffee apple look which is so very Kylie Jenner.
Chanel rocked a high impact double layer liner at its haute couture show in Paris last month and when the audience weren't checking out Cara Delevingne's dog on the FROW, they were zooming in with curiosity for Sam McKnight's oversized rolled croissant upstyles which drew the hair off the face - all the better to see Tom Pecheux's double flick of eyeliner.
Aidan Corcoran says the secret to this double liner is a steady hand and always have cotton buds handy. Together with his colleagues Warren, and Nicole Lynch, he will be on hand at the Beauty Blossoms Garden which is part of the Beauty Blossoms event which runs in the Grafton Street store until March 6. It features an interesting mix of the top beauty brands, exciting events and exclusive launches to inspire and delight.
The Beauty Blossoms Garden is a designated 'stay and play' pop-up space where customers can relax free of charge at beauty stations and find the perfect make-up look from a carefully edited selection of the most popular products across the world's best brands. All of the big international visiting artists - including Nars, Dior, Lancôme, Armani, Estée Lauder, Laura Mercier and Charlotte Tilbury - will have booking fees applied for appointments and this is fully redeemable against product. "Blue is probably my favourite trend this season and it's a colour you can rock at any age. To keep it modern and wearable, I use a bright blue as a liner on a bare lid to add a pop with a twist. If you're still a little unsure, a navy liner is a softer alternative."
Saoirse’s Nude On Nude
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, €90; La Prairie Cellular Radiance Perfecting Fluid Pure Gold, €458; Laura Mercier Candleglow foundation, €48; Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow, €65; MAC blush in Pink Swoon, €20; Bobbi Brown Luxe lip colour in Pink Cloud, €32.50
