Shine control powder, smoothing serums and gorgeous goodies from Lancome are all in the mix at the Beauty Boutique - Independent Woman's weekly run down of what to get, what to try and where to go for it.

Tame it

Beatnicks beware - flyaway hair is so seriously last season. Anyone who feels their hair needs direction can throw away the Ginsberg and sign up to be licked into shape at the James Brown bootcamp. The lightweight serum gave this weeks stray locks some military grade shimmer and the results, all in all, looked pretty good. Less spit and more polish, two clicks and the formula tames hair without making it feel sticky. Packed with Kukui nut oil, the fragrance is delicious and the shine is dazzling. A perfect pick me up for the flawless amongst you. Available for €8.70 from Boots.

In it's prime

Gosh fans will be pleased to hear that the brand has now made itself available at A-wear stores nationwide. This week, the Gosh primer has left me perfectly presentable, in fact, it's been the pick of the pack. Prices range from €7 to €19 meaning there will be no need to hide the credit card statements at the end of the month.

Out of control

Shiny skin in need of some modesty may wish to send a comely glance toward Rimmel's new 'Stay Matte' pressed powder. The natural shine control helps minimise the appearance of deep pores and will keep skin looking it's best for up to five hours, and having had a go this week it might very well be true. Available from pharmices nationwide, priced at €5.93

Beauty splurge

I saved the Jo Malone body balm as something of a treat, having had it tucked away for a while. Wheat germ, calendula, sweet almond oil and kernel oil left my skin feeling super soothed, seriously soft and definitely added a bit of glamour to my Sunday night routine. Available from Jo Malone counters nationwide, €65 for 185ml.

Oh, go on then!

Never having been the sort of girl who gets hoodwinked on the free gift front I was this week a little shocked at how easily I have been seduced by the Lancome skin-care essentials offer at Brown Thomas.

A purchase of two or more items, one which must be skincare, will get you a delicious eight piece Lancome essentials travel pack as a very generous thank you, although as 'it's only while stocks last' you'll have to move quickly to get the goodies! This offer is available until the 10th of March.
