Beauty Boutique - Bargains, body creams and brilliant collaborations
Published 18/03/2010 | 15:08
This week on beauty boutique, Independent Woman's weekly beauty run-down, we bring you the latest in a foundation finish without the blips, a budget pencil we've been doubling as a brow definer and a can of tan without the Tango.
If you're in the market for some pampering, look no further than Rituals. The brand famed for its hand and body scrubs recently landed in Ireland and offers some pretty deliciously fragranced candles, some luxurious hair care goodies and the odd body creme sure to hit the button marked 'destress'. The Yogi foam is fast becoming a shower favourite and you won't even need to master circular breathing to restore your sense of Karma.
Priced at €7.25 Available at Arnotts.
What a pair!
Every so often a beauty collaboration like no other unveils itself and this season its all about Liberty. MAC have joined forces with the kings of kaleidoscopic prints, Liberty of London, to create a cool Britannia-inspired range of lipsticks, eye shadows, powder, blush, nail lacquers and accessories. The coveted collection will be on counters from April and although probably everyone will get them before me, frankly, I can't wait.
Two for one
Fans of bargain beauty brand NYC prepare to rejoice for we're slowly falling back in love with eyeliner duet pencil. Double sided and including a lead black and a soft brown (which doubles to define brows) both ends glide on without a hitch, it won't last all day but we don't mind a top-up now and then - all in all, a thumbs up and a bargain at €2.49. Available from Selected pharmacies nationwide.
Ever wondered how the glamorous folks on the telly get that flawless finish? Beauty Boutique may have the answer!
Those geniuses over at Urban Decay have come up with a cutting-edge finishing powder designed to absorb oil while seemingly airbrushing away flaws. Back stage Make-Up artist Lou Page has even been known to use it on the likes of Florence Welch, Geri Halliwell and Mel B.
Available from Urban Decay Counters nationwide, Priced at €27.
With Spring well and truly here talk has quickly turned to tanning. As our first foray into 'orange season' began with Rockstar Tan's mousse, we're happy to report the trial run didn't go too badly. The lightly whipped formula uses organic DHA to adjust to your natural skin tone, resulting in a look that's nicely sun kissed without looking too, well, Tango.
With a bit of skin firming technology thrown into the bargain, bagging an extra biscuit won't mean more orange peel when we finally make it round to a bikini this summer - technically we sort of see it as a way of working out!
Priced at €29.99, available from Arnotts and selected pharmacies nationwide.
