Aisling Keenan: Locks so good
Your hair needs as much sun protection, as your skin, says Aisling Keenan
There's always a body part or two forgotten when applying your sun cream, whether it's a finger mark on your shoulder or a big red patch on your stomach.
Another part that's sometimes neglected is our hair. Burnt scalps and scalded, straw-like balls of frizz while you strut down the beach? Not a good look.
Summer can be a dangerous time for our crowning glory: UV rays, salt water, chlorine and humidity all zap the natural health, shine and softness from your hair. So take heed of these dos and don'ts, and make sure you maintain that mane all through summer.
Do air dry instead of blasting your hair with the blow dryer.
Do use jojoba oil on badly damaged ends to soften and protect.
Do drink plenty of water. The more hydrated you are, the better it is for your hair.
Do embrace hassle-free hair. Think healthy, tousled waves, not dry, straw-like frizz.
Don't shampoo every day. Allow tresses to hang on to natural oils.
Don't forget to use a leave-in conditioner.
Don't go for long periods in the sun without a hat.
Don't overdo it on heated appliances.
