Triona's trends

'Cherry Blossom, I close my eyes and think of you when I sleep.  I close my eyes, and you're with me in my dreams.'

Those are lyrics from the song Cherry Blossom, by Dott - my sister Anna's band. It's from the EP Button (see facebook.com/dottmusic). It's written about my late sister, Tricia, who loved to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom.

We're so lucky to have the most beautiful cherry blossom tree in our garden, where my photo, above, was taken. As Maxi runs around kicking up the 'pink confetti', as we call it, I see so much of Tricia in him.

I'm spraying some of the new limited-edition Cherry Blossom L'Eau from L'Occitane, €41, on myself in my photo. It whisks me away in a whirlwind of fresh and delicate notes, even after the blossoms have disappeared. But that's part of the charm.

Lyndsey Cavanagh, make-up artist for Max Factor, picked my look this week, using the soft pinkness of the cherry blossoms as inspiration. She began with Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizer CC Cream, left, €19.99, as a base, and lightly buffed over Max Factor Skin Luminizer in Ivory, €16.89. To keep the look light, she added a halo-type glow to the contours of my face using Max Factor Creme Puff Blush,  €11.49; it comes in six shades. She applied Nude Mauve blush below the arch of my brows, across the eyelids and around the temples.

Then, she swept the Seductive Pink shade, pictured below, across my brow bone and high across the apples of my cheeks, creating a fuller, more youthful look.

Finally, Lyndsey lightly dusted the Alluring Rose shade along my hairline, underneath my cheekbones and across my jawline. For subtle definition, Lyndsey used Max Factor Eyebrow Pencil in Ebony, €6.49, to extend my brows, and to accentuate the lash line, she simply added a little Max Factor Liquid Effect Liner in Black Fire, €8.99, to the roots, followed by one smooth application of Max Factor Glamour Extensions 3 in 1 Mascara, €13.99.

She completed my look with Max Factor Colour Intensifying Lip Balm in Sumptuous Candy, €11.49.

What lies beneath

Yes, that's an engagement ring on my finger in my photo this week. He liked it and put a ring on it. About time, too. I'd been faffing about for ages trying to find the right one and, in the end, Will and I designed it ourselves. I absolutely adore it. Now I have the right man and the right ring.

So, I've gone mad for painting my nails again to show off the sparkler. I did the whole nudey-colour thing initially, but with two kiddies in nappies, let's just say the lighter colours aren't favourable.

I love Fortissimo, a limited-edition dark-blue colour, from the Blue Rhythm collection de Chanel, €23.50. It's edgy and cool and it's so 'right now'. And it covers up what's under the nails!

Oooh-La-La!

Ze French pharmacy favourite Bioderma is finally available here in Ireland. You might recognise the pink-capped bottle of Sensibio H2O Solution Micellaire,  €11.50, the hero product of the range. Most MUAs have one in their kit, because it just really works.

It gently removes all traces of make-up on the face and eyes without leaving a residue, so it's perfect for the pusses of those poor supermodels during fashion week, rushing from show to show.

While the Solution Micellaire is part of the Sensibio range, there is also the Atoderm range for very dry skin; Sebium for oily to acne-prone skin; and finally, there's the Photoderm range, which is the brand's sun-protection line, again with products that are tailored to each skin type.

Most wanted

Doutzen Kroes is like a modern-day Grace Kelly, don't you think? I love old-Hollywood glamour, so I was delighted to hear about The Spa at the Shelbourne Hotel's new Panpuri Elegance and Grace candle range, from €19.50, inspired by HRH Princess Grace of Monaco, who was a regular guest at the hotel.

The exclusive range of home-ambiance aromas, created especially for The Shelbourne by leading luxury spa and aromatherapy company Panpuri, look and smell divine. Then there's the Elegance and Grace Spa Package, €149 per person; it's only available until August 31.

It starts with a body polish, then a mini facial, followed by a massage. Then, it's up to the unique relaxation room, where you can enjoy a glass of Veuve Clicquot Rose champagne - Grace's favourite - while looking out on Stephen's Green.

You can also use the hotel's fitness and thermal facilities, like the wonderful pool, steam room and sauna.

When you finally pull yourself away from there, there's a gift to take home of a mini Panpuri Elegance and Grace candle.

Cult product

My grandmother, Agnes, always favoured Elnett hairspray, saying it was the best. I'm the same, and a mere whiff of it instantly reminds me of her.

Apparently, it's the technology behind the nozzle that makes it a cult product. Nobody else can replicate the way it spreads so evenly throughout hair so that it never feels sticky, and your hair can actually move when you've used it. Now we have another first from Elnett, with Elnett Satin Precious Oil Hairspray, from €4.42, containing argan oil, to smooth, soften and give extra shine.

Somehow, the weightless formula still gives the same hold and volume.

Granny would have loved it!
