Getting there: It’s all about the journey

Get on track for the day ahead.

When it comes to our hectic lives, we all seem to be rushing from one thing to the next. From streaming episode after episode of the latest TV series to dropping the kids to football training after running in the door from work, a moment to ourselves has become more and more seldom in the day to day.

This is why those precious and fleeting moments to unwind and relax have never been more important. For some people, the commute is just part of the daily grind but there is one real exception: travelling by rail. Whether it’s 15 or 50 minutes, that time in the mornings or coming home after a long day is an opportunity to decompress with some of life’s little pleasures.

It can be as simple as having a moment to finally read your new book in peace. Or why not order a cup of tea and just watch the countryside pass by as you pull into the city? The train has to be the only form of transport where you can properly enjoy a sneaky pre-work nap before pulling into the station.

After finding your seat, you can put in your headphones to listen to a playlist or catch-up on your favourite podcast. You can even launch into the next episode of your current TV obsession on Netflix before you have even put your key in the door.

With the unadulterated ‘me-time’, relaxed setting, reliable WiFi and on-board catering, you’d be forgiven for mistaking your daily commute for some sort of spa-like retreat at a fraction of the cost.

Whether you are looking for a table to set your tablet on to tune into last night’s Fair City or a seat by the window to stretch out and snooze, you can reserve your seat online. It even has your name above your spot – you certainly wouldn’t get that, or the legroom, on the bus.

The train also boasts super speedy travel times but with a few more pages left in the chapter or a cliff-hanger in that last episode, you might wish it took that little bit longer to get there.

Whether you are a die-hard adult colouring book fanatic or a hardcore on-the-go gamer, a Fantasy Football chancer or a celebrity gossip fiend, the train offers you that bit of time to yourself, free from interruptions and distractions.

The only problem is you might find it so good, you won’t want to get off!

There are so many reasons to take the train, the relaxed travelling, the speedy travel times, the on board catering and free Wi-Fi. Now with our new online fares options you can get a really low fare or a flexible fare with free seat reservation included. Find out more and book here.
