Friday evenings must be carefully planned all week to maximise enjoyment and provide the perfect lead-in to the weekend.
But it’s not always easy to find something exciting to do.
You’re tired of your local bar, disinterested in watching something in the cinema and you are absolutely not going to spend the night in; you do that every weekday night already. If you’re looking for something with a difference to do to kick-off this weekend, look no further.
This Friday, August 5th, the award winning ‘Jumping in the City’ event is taking place in Shelbourne Park. This is a unique and thrilling show jumping experience that is not just for show jumping connoisseurs. Coinciding with the opening ceremony of the 2016 Olympic Games, attending the event is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the Irish equestrian athletes participating in both the Olympic and Paralympic games.
In addition to offering live music until late and the chance to have a flutter, ‘Jumping in the City’ incorporates three key events: The Westwood/IFor Williams Amateur class, The Underwriting Exchange Grand Prix and the Devenish Puissance. Tipperary’s Olympic bound Showjumper, Greg Broderick, will be competing in the Underwriting Exchange Grand Prix before flying to Rio the next day.
The theme on the night is Rio Carnival, so you will truly feel like you are part of the Olympics this year. You will feel the exotic excitement of the Olympics, and will be eager to stand proudly with those who are competing for Ireland. ‘Jumping in the City’ is a family-friendly event, so everyone can enjoy the excitement.
Last year, the event was an incredible success, which saw large crowds flock to see the top international riders and horses compete. It was such a success that it won the award of “Best Innovation in Sport” at the Sport Industry Awards 2015 organised by the Federation of Irish Sport.
A limited amount of corporate hospitality tables remain, while group discounts and other restaurant packages are also available. General Admission on the night is €20 or €15 if pre-booked online, Children under 14 go free, Students and OAP’s are €10.
