"After all of that time in America I came home just in time for the recession," jokes Miriam. "When the company closed down, part of the redundancy package that they offered me was a Springboard+ course in IT Tralee. I felt like I was at a crossroads in my career. I figured I might as well take the course."

In 2012 Miriam completed the Certificate in Digital Marketing. Today she owns her own business - Grow Marketing Solutions. She puts much of her success down to what she learned during her time with IT Tralee.

"It was a challenging course. A lot of good quality work was required. But the course acted like a catalyst. All the experience that I had from America and interests that I had, such as photography, all came together. I learned things like photoshop and the process of marketing and how to maximise social media for marketing.

"I opened up my own business a year ago and it has been very successful. Many of the skills I use in my business I got from Springboard+. I have found my niche. My business allows small companies to access the marketing tools that larger companies can access but at a much lower price point.

"I feel I have carved out something great for myself," she says.
