Zach Tuohy will put pen to paper on a four year deal to join AFL side Geelong on Friday.
The former Laois minor footballer, who was on the bench for Portlaoise's county final defeat to Stradbally last weekend, will move to the Australian club in a draft-pick trade deal.
He is the second Irish player to move to Geelong in recent days, after Kerry minor Mark O'Connor made the switch yesterday.
The 26 year old has played 120 times for Carlton since his move to Australia in 2010, and was named in the AFL Coaches Association's All-Australian team last year.
It's a big move for Tuohy, and the trade sees Tuohy and Billie Smedts swaps clubs. Geelong finished second last year, and will be hoping to go one better this year, while Carlton finished 14th.
Mayo native Pearce Hanley also traded AFL clubs in recent days, moving from Brisbane Lions to Gold Coast Suns.
