Armagh trounced Wicklow by 2-21 to 0-2 to advance to the next round of the qualifiers in a cringeworthy clash at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh.

In Mick O'Dwyer's final season at Wicklow they forced a draw at the Athletic Grounds before succumbing to defeat in Aughrim but that performance was a world away today.

Armagh got off to a perfect start in bizarre circumstances when Referee Derek Fahey gave a penalty for an off-the-ball incident and Jamie Clarke scored it.

Clarke scored his second goal minutes later when he capitalised on confusion and a spilled ball in the Wicklow defence.

Kevin Dias and Tony Kernan slotted the first of 10 unanswered points and the game was already over.

Joey Kelly got Wicklow's first point after 26 minutes and Alan Byrne got their second soon afterwards but they trailed by 2-14 to 0-2 at the break.

Armagh's embarrassing domination continued in the second half with seven unanswered points.

Hapless Wicklow couldn't muster a score in the second half.

In the last remaining qualifier, Derry beat Sligo by 0-15 to 0-8 at Celtic Park and go into tomorrow morning's draw.
