GILES, Brady, Keane, McGrath – it makes for one the greatest pub arguments of all: who is the best Irish footballer of the last 50 years?
In today’s Irish Independent, we’ll tell you our view when our experts rank the top 50 Irish footballers of the last 50 years in our Legends magazine.
A panel of journalists drawn from our sports team sat down to identify the outstanding Irish players since 1962 and then rate them in order from 1 to 50.
You can find our verdict by picking up the magazine which is published free with Monday's newspaper.
Then, we want you to continue the debate online by logging into our interactive iMag which is available on any PC, smartphone or tablet device and provides additional features to bring the list content to life - visit www.independent.ie/soccerlegends
They include footage of the key protagonists in action for Ireland, some classic photographs, and video of our team discussing the merits of the major players in more detail. Clips range from black and white images of a packed Dalymount Park in the 60s to some of the more memorable internationals of recent years.
The online mag also provides the opportunity for readers to vote for their best Irish XI of 1962-2012. And you can tweet our sportsdesk @IndoSport to extend the debate.
We hope that the magazine provides a window to a fascinating time in the history of Irish football and recognises the figures that made a defining contribution to the game during that period, both for their country and in their club endeavours. Our judges’ deliberations are sure to provoke lively discussion.
The Legends is the third glossy magazine and iMag produced by the Irish Independent in just over a week after ‘The Gathering’ publication and our ‘Mistletoe’ Christmas special.
