There were a few light-hearted moments during Ryan Giggs opening press conference at Carrington as interim manager at Manchester United but Karen Shotbolt's slip was easily the best.

The United press officer introduced Giggs, who is taking over from David Moyes, as David before the new man in charge and the gathered media burst into laughter.

The Welshman is keen to play a part in United's games on the pitch so will consider naming himself in the squad for Saturday's game against struggling Norwich.

"I've just given myself a five-year contract," he joked.

"I haven't done much this week but am still involved as a player as well."

Giggs has been so busy this week that he has not had time to consider whether he will wear a suit or tracksuit in the dugout on Saturday.

"I haven't decided. You'll have to wait and see," said Giggs, who will be assisted by former United trio Phil Neville, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes during his interim reign.
