Despite our current elevated status (ranked third in the world) in the game, successes over the last 60 years in Irish rugby have been sparing.
Many a good player has come and gone with little in the way of trophies to celebrate.
Brian O'Driscoll, though, retired from professional rugby in 2014 with an incredibly successful 15-year career in his wake: two Six Nations championships (including a Grand Slam), four Triple Crowns, three Heineken Cups, one Amlin Challenge Cup, four Celtic Leagues, an IRB U19 World Championship and four Lions tours.
O'Driscoll's brilliant career will be remembered not just for his individual feats, but for his many achievements.
