Tyrone are the Nicky Rackard Cup champions for 2014 after holding off a late rally from Fingal to win by 1-17 to 1-16 at GAA headquarters.

Fingal trailed by seven points with 14 minutes to go but their strong finish came up agonisingly short.

It was Tyrone's first ever win in the competition.

The Red Hand side led by 1-8 to 0-10 thanks to a 23rd minute goal from Christopher Cross.

They stretched their advantage on the resumption and led by 1-15 to 0-11 after 55 minutes but the Dublin side stormed back and a goal in injury time from Dave Smyth  left just a point between the sides but Fingal didn't have time to find an equaliser.
