Trio add spice to Sandwich

An intriguing looking 'Hamsandwich' Handicap at Leopardstown on Thursday features three last-time-out winners in a field of eight.

Tarziyna, Princess Pearlita and Bride The Bouncer were the successful trio, with the first-named looking particularly promising with her six-length success in a Sligo maiden last month. The John Oxx-trained daughter of Raven's Pass was having her third run and starts life in handicap company off a mark of 86.

Jessica Harrington's Bribe The Bouncer just got up to score over a mile at Listowel and looks sure to be suited by this try at 10 furlongs. Princess Pearlita, trained by Mick Halford, has her first run since winning at Dundalk in November and first beyond a mile.

A stumbling block to all three might be Aidan O'Brien's Iniesta, who disappointed over a mile and a half at the Curragh on his seasonal reappearance in a run that looked too bad to be true.

The opening Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden could prove informative, with O'Brien saddling the newcomer Outstanding (Colm O'Donoghue) and the twice-raced Simply A Star (Seamie Heffernan).

Much attention is likely to surround Outstanding, who is a full-sister to the top-class Magician, winner of the Breeders' Cup Turf and Irish 2,000 Guineas last season. She holds an entry in the Moyglare Stud Stakes.

Jim Bolger's Pleascach should give a good guide to the form as she sets quite a standard having been fourth in the Group Three Grangecon Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday. That was a first sighting of a racecourse for the Teofilo filly.

Five last-time-out scorers make up the field for the Visit The Leopardstown Circle Lounge Race, with O'Brien relying on Toscanelli, a full-brother to Mars who scored easily at Limerick.

The Ger Lyons-trained Bertie Le Belge beat a stablemate of Toscanelli on his debut at the Curragh, though, and he could prove tough to beat.

Elsewhere on a fairly competitive card, Willie Mullins throws his Pink Hat into the ring for the Leopardstown Club Membership Maiden.

The daughter of Presenting is already a dual bumper and hurdle winner and comes into the contest on the back of two recent jumps wins at Cork and Kilbeggan.

No less than five of the six runners are previous bumper winners, with Dermot Weld's 75-rated Flat performer Martys Magic the only to have failed in his bid to win in that grade.
