Toulon secured victory at Scotstoun this evening which means the eight quarter-finalists for the Heineken Cup are now confirmed.

Five penalties from Jonny Wilkinson was enough to see off the Scottish side 15-8, though Irish supporters would have been hoping that Glasgow’s late surge would result in a converted try to level matters and help Munster, Leinster and Ulster in their quest for a home quarter-final.

The French side showed a resolute defence and are the first team guaranteed a money-spinning home draw in the last eight.

The other four teams now into the quarter-finals are Toulouse, Clermont, Leicester and Saracens, with the pairings to be decided after tomorrow’s games.
