From hurling with Thurles Sarsfields to playing 11-a-side with Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, it has been quite the sporting journey for Alan Kennedy.
The Tipperary native is part of a rapidly-growing Irish teaching community in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and while he no longer hurls in anger, he has been keeping his himself active in his current environment.
Involved in a league competition at the Zayed Sports City in UAE’s second-largest city, he was in esteemed company with none other than the multi-millionaire City chairman also having a run out, with the two men forming a most unlikely partnership in attack.
The chairman will be buoyed by City’s triumph in the Capital One Cup Final against Sunderland and the Thurles man posted a picture on Facebook of the two men afterwards.
“Formed a lethal partnership up front tonight at ZSC with the chairman of Manchester City football club Khaldoon Al Mubarak. Just an average night in the UAE. #goodtimes,” he wrote.
