Sheffield Steelers maintained their two-point lead at the top of the Elite League table with a 6-3 defeat of Coventry Blaze, who nevertheless qualified for the play-offs because of Manchester's home loss to Braehead.

Ben O'Connor scored twice for Sheffield, whose other goals came from Mathieu Roy, Luke Ferrara, Jeff Legue and Tyler Mosienko. The Blaze scored through Ashley Tait, Jordan Pietrus and Chris Bruton.

Cardiff Devils kept up the pressure on Sheffield with a 4-3 overtime victory against Belfast Giants as Jake Morissette (two), Zach Hervato and Tomas Kurka were on target, Belfast scoring through Kris Beech, Michael Forney and Chris Higgins.

Braehead Clan ended Manchester Storm's play-off hopes with a 6-3 road victory, Nottingham Panthers won 2-1 after overtime at Fife Flyers and Dundee Stars recorded an emphatic 13-2 home win over Edinburgh Capitals.
