Special Olympics Ireland is calling on businesses and organisations to sponsor an athlete in the lead-up to the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2017.

A total of 26 Special Olympics Ireland athletes will compete in these World Winter Games, taking place next March in Graz and Schladming, Austria, in two winter sports - floorball and alpine skiing.

One such athlete is Laoise Kenny, from Dublin, who is looking forward to competing at alpine skiing - her first time at an international level.

Irish businesses are now being asked to get behind Team Ireland by pledging their financial help to the 'Support an Athlete' programme. To cover the cost of sending Team Ireland to the World Winter Games 2017, Special Olympics Ireland needs to raise €3,000 per athlete.
