A look at the candidates for the top job at Liverpool.

Roy Hodgson

The Fulham manager may be seen as the safe pair of hands on a comparatively short-term basis, particularly after taking a side on a limited budget to the Europa League final. However, he would be unlikely to get the Anfield faithful buzzing with anticipation

Martin O'Neill

Beaten by Benitez to the Anfield job while at Celtic, the Villa manager is believed to have the support of a number of board members at Liverpool. But Villa's Randy Lerner has made it clear he does not expect his man to leave .

Guus Hiddink

The vastly experienced former Chelsea manager has signed to take over the Turkey job from next season but may have an escape clause.

Frank Rijkaard
