Jürgen Klopp is wasting little time in reminding fans what they have missed during the off-season as he cracked the jokes once again after Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Fleetwood Town.
With the Reds’ getting their pre-season underway before most of their Premier League rivals, Klopp oversaw the second match of the season as his side showed signs of firing on all cylinders in the 5-0 win over Fleetwood, although Klopp joked after the match that he thought Fleetwood were a rock band.
Clearly, Klopp hadn’t confused the League One side with Fleetwood Mac, with his broad smile giving away the fact that he was making the comment with tongue firmly in cheek.
Klopp was also delighted at seeing new signing Marko Grujic score on his first outing in a Liverpool shirt, with the Serbia Under-21 enjoying a dream start to life with the Premier League side. Grujic netted the opener before Ben Woodburn, Lucas and a Roberto Firmino double completed the rout.
Like a man who knows he’s got a bad joke coming, Klopp started laughing before he got to the punchline, and apologised afterwards once he was informed that he had mistaken them for rock band that was formed way back in 1967.
