Steven Gerrard has cheekily hailed his LA Galaxy team-mate Robbie Keane as one of the three best players in the world, in a video designed for an American audience.
Gerrard took part in a promotional shoot for LA Galaxy featuring a young fan with a very curious haircut and he offered up some views that may not go down well with his home city of Liverpool or current Premier League champions Leicester City.
He started by naming his three top players in world football and as former Republic of Ireland skipper Keane is a hero among the LA Galaxy faithful, he suggested the Dubliner should be in list of the world’s greatest players alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Gerrard picked out French hero Zinedine Zidane as the player he wanted to emulate when he was growing up, before naming his pick for the best three players in the modern game.
“Now it is obviously Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robbie Keane as the best three players in the world,” stated Gerrard. “That’s right isn’t it.”
Gerrard went on to paint a less than glamorous picture of the “wet and snowy” Liverpool as he cruised around in the Los Angeles sunshine and when his young passenger told him he wanted to leave America and sign for Leicester, he offered this response:
“Leicester….why,” he questioned. “What about Liverpool, or Barcelona or Real Madrid. Don’t got to Leicester, they are crap!”
It was all tongue in cheek stuff from Gerrard and this video is well worth a watch.
