Video: Bill O’Herlihy and soccer panel provide special wedding post-'match' analysis

Published 29/04/2014 | 08:31

A newly-wed couple were given a unique wedding present when the RTE soccer panel offered their insight for the big day.

Bride Julie-Ann Coleman stunned her husband David Jones and the wedding congregation when Bill O’Herlihy, John Giles, Liam Brady and Eamon Dunphy analysed the couple’s wedding day.

The wedding took place on Sunday, but Julie-Ann's wedding videographer Garry McGovern of 'Simple Wedding Videos' recorded the message from the obliging panel last week before Ireland took on Germany in the World Cup qualifier.

The panel show their professionalism by remaining deadpan throughout and offering their opinion on the newlyweds.

Brady reckoned that David was “taking a big chance”, but “it might be a risk worth taking”, while O’Herlihy described the event as the wedding equivalent of “the World Cup Final

Dunphy said that, “not for the first time, I disagree with Liam. She’s a smasher, Julie-Ann, an absolute smasher. I’m not sure about that boy, though. We know what they’re like, and he’s one of the worst.”

Giles said that the more he heard about David being a fan of the panel, the more he felt that he was a good match for Julie-Ann.

Garry McGovern of 'Simple Wedding Videos' praised the pundits for their generosity.

“The lads were the consummate professionals, absolute gentlemen,” he said.

“I literally only had one shot, one chance and one take to get this right, with no rehearsal or script and literally less than 10 minutes before they went live.”

“Everyone there was well on board with what we was doing and gave us total support - absolute legends, and I mean that sincerely,” he added.
