Twitter reacts to Richard Dunne's retirement from international football
Teammates past and present were quick to pay tribute to Republic of Ireland defender Richard Dunne, who announced his retirement from international football this evening.
Dunne who represented Ireland 80 times and scored eight goals, had been involved in Republic of Ireland squads since under 15 level . Many of those teammates were quick to heap praise upon his career.

Nottingham Forest forward and Republic Of Ireland fellow international Simon Cox said: "Sad to hear of Richard Dunne's retirement from international football. What a hero he has been for the country a true warrior."
Kevin Kilbane wrote "Congratulations #RichardDunne on a wonderful international career. One the best Irish Defenders ever. I was was lucky to be a teammate"
Snooker star Ken Doherty also paid tribute to Dunne: "Sorry to see Richard Dunne retire from Int Football, great servant for Ireland over the years, he will b missed."
Football journalist Mark Ogden wrote of the former Republic of Ireland star "Saw Richard Dunne against Russia in Moscow in 2011. One of best displays I've ever seen. Will retire an Irish legend because of that game."
