Trap waits on McGeady update

AIDEN McGEADY will today learn the full extent of the shin injury he picked up during Spartak Moscow's pre-season training camp in Spain this week.

The Glasgow-born winger underwent a MRI scan in Alicante and could miss Ireland's February 29 friendly against the Czech Republic. Giovanni Trapattoni names his squad for that match on Friday and will be keen for the wide-man to be involved.

Spartak will want McGeady to be available for the resumption of the Russian League season on March 4.

The 25-year-old missed two months of last season with a similar injury, but the Russians are hopeful that it will not be as serious this time.

Meanwhile, Ireland's pre-Euro 2012 plans have been finalised with confirmation of the June 4 friendly against Hungary in Budapest. Ireland travel there after a week in the Italian town of Montecatini before making their way to their Polish base of Gydnia ahead of the start of the Euros against Croatia on June 10.
