Transfer Round-Up - Van Gaal to wield the axe with 10 players heading for exit door

New Man United boss Louis Van Gaal is set to make a ruthless start to his Old Trafford reign with as many as 10 players set to be told they have no future at the club.
According to The Daily Star, the players expected to be told they are no longer required include Ashley Young, Wilfried Zaha, Marouane Fellaini, Bebe, Anderson, Tom Cleverley, Nani and Nick Powell.
With many so many departing going United will be looking to strengthen, particularly in midfield. Juventus have revealed that main target Arturo Vidal is not for sale unless the Chile midfielder expresses his desire to leave himself. Juventus club administrator Giuseppe Marotta said today: "We want to keep him."
Chelsea are looking to further bolster their midfield, with José Mourinho reportedly set to hijack Arsenal’s transfer for Real Madrid midfielder, Sami Khedira. (Daily Mirror), though the Guardian says Khedira’s agent has yet to speak to either London club. The Express have suggested that Jon Obi Mikel will make way for the deal to occur.
London rivals Tottenham are set to offer defender Jan Vertonghen a new five-year deal in an effort to end any speculation linking him to Barcelona, which will see a significant increase to his £45,000-per-week deal according to the Daily Mail.
Spurs are also looking to bring in Swansea left back Ben Davies. Liverpool have had a bid rejected for the Welsh youngster and Spurs look set to make a bid for the player says the Daily Star.
The Swans on the other hand, are close to signing Ecuador winger Jefferson Montero in a £4m deal.
Liverpool may make an increased bid for Davies if they manage to offload Moroccan winger Oussama Assaidi to Stoke in a deal worth £7m.
