Sergio Ramos has reportedly told Real Madrid 'let me join Manchester United'. So says The Sun, after the Spanish giants rejected a £32 million bid for the Spain international.
The 29-year-old is apparently unhappy that Real have failed to offer him improved terms on his current contract and has made it clear that he is not simply using United as a means of getting a better deal.
The Sun adds that United are prepared to use David de Gea - who wants to go to Real - in a straight swap.
Meanwhile, The Daily Star reports that De Gea is facing a 'humiliating return to pre-season training' with Manchester United next week - despite telling them he wants to leave.
De Gea is desperate to join Real and fulfil a lifelong dream of playing for the Spanish giants.
But Starsport understands Louis van Gaal has ordered De Gea to report back for pre-season training on Monday.
The paper quotes a source as saying: "Unless a deal is struck before the start of next week, which is unlikely, then David will be back at the club for pre-season training, which is not ideal for all concerned."
The 24-year-old has rejected a new £200,000-a-week deal at Old Trafford that would make him the highest-paid goalkeeper in world football.
But United have rejected a £15 million bid from Real in turn and told them De Gea is valued at closer to £30 million instead.
Meanwhile, The Star also reveals Everton have told United that Seamus Coleman is not for sale.
Van Gaal has turned to the right-back after missing out on Dani Alves and Nathaniel Clyne. United are supposedly considering a £15 million bid for the Republic of Ireland star.
The Daily Express, however, claims Everton are monitoring Leeds United youngster Sam Byram should United make an offer they can't refuse.
United expect to seal the £24 million signing of Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin before the end of this week.
Schneiderlin, 25, reported for duty at Southampton's Staplewood training ground on Monday with Ronald Koeman's squad making an early start to their pre-season campaign due to Europa League qualifying round commitments.
Today's Daily Telegraph reports that the France international will travel to Manchester within the next 48 hours to undergo a medical before finalising a move to Old Trafford.
Van Gaal has moved for Schneiderlin after abandoning his pursuit of Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, whose failure to prove his fitness after a cruciate ligament injury has ended United's interest in the Holland international.
And finally, Manchester United target Bastian Schweinsteiger wants to stay at Bayern Munich. According to German publication Sport1, the 30-year-old Germany midfielder says he wants to win the Champions League and a fourth consecutive Bundesliga title with Bayern.
