Bebe has joined Benfica

Manchester United's Bebe has joined Benfica on a four-year deal and the fans of the Red Devils are giddy.

The Portuguese winger played 45 minutes for the United reserve team against Southport on Tuesday evening before being substituted at half-time after making no impression.

Bebe, who signed for United in 2010 in a deal worth £7m, was never going to be part of Louis van Gaal's plans and has now returned to his native Portugal.

The 24-year-old, who made seven appearances in total, never looked like making it into the United first team and he was shipped out on loan to Besiktas, Rio Ave and Pacos de Ferreira.

On Friday, Benfica confirmed they had bought the player, releasing a statement on their website which read: "Bebe has signed an agreement with SL Benfica for four years."

Alex Ferguson famously revealed he signed Bebe without seeing him play live.

United fans took to twitter to say goodbye and to say that he still has more Premier League titles than Steven Gerrard. Here is the best of the reaction:
